Cape Fear Academy

Wilmington, NC

Summary

When a space wasn’t built for performance, sound becomes the greatest challenge—and the greatest opportunity. At Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington, Wave was brought in to transform a former gymnasium plagued by hard surfaces, uncontrolled reflections, and poor clarity: conditions that would undermine even the best production.

Partnering with WGM, Wave led the acoustic design process from the ground up, not just improving the room but reshaping how it performed. Through strategic design and tuning, the space was transformed into a true performing arts environment where speech is clear, music is balanced, and every seat feels connected to the stage.
